Newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Nigheban Scheme 2024 to provide free ration bags to the poor and needy. Maryam Nawaz made this announcement after taking oath as the chief minister of Punjab in her victory speech on the eve of Ramadan. Due to the time limit for the scheme’s implementation, the government decided not to initiate the registration process for the “nigheban” scheme, but to follow the the already registered information in the record of BISP immediately.

What is the BISP Program?
Benazir income support program was launched by the Pakistan People’s Party when they were in the government. This program is named in honor of the first-ever female prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in the year 2008. The BISP Program has been providing financial assistance to people since its launch until today.
