Guide to Registering for Benazir Kafalat Program by Shahbaz Sharif 2024

The Benazir Kafalat Program, the largest and most essential initiative under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), was initiated by former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 2008. This program aims to assist women, particularly those from poor and deserving families, by providing cash financial aid to combat poverty.

Initially limited to certain areas, it has now expanded significantly and stands as Pakistan’s largest cash transfer program for women. The primary goal of the Kafalat Program is to support families and women struggling with poverty, helping them avoid further impoverishment due to food shortages and rising inflation. Currently, the program supports approximately 9 million families.

Benefit Of Benazir Kafalat 2024

To benefit from the Kafalat Program, eligible women and families must follow a straightforward process. Firstly, visit the nearest BISP registration center with necessary documents like your national ID card and complete the registration form accurately. Your information will then be verified by the authorities, which may include a visit from a BISP representative. Upon successful verification, you will receive approval for financial assistance, notified through a letter or a message on your registered phone number.

Subsequently, you will be issued a Kafalat card, which can be used to withdraw money from designated ATMs or banking agents. It is crucial to keep your Kafalat card and personal information secure and report any issues or fraud to the BISP helpline immediately. Following these steps ensures that you can easily register and receive financial assistance through the Benazir Kafalat Program, thereby improving your financial stability and helping you overcome challenges related to poverty and inflation.

Eligibility Criteria for the Benazir Kafalat Program

Eligibility for the Benazir Kafalat Program is determined through a Scientific Method called the Proxy Means Test (PMT), which is conducted via the NSER survey. Households with a PMT score below 32 in the NSER survey qualify for the Kafalat Program. Households or women who meet all these criteria can join the Kafalat Program after completing the registration process. Notably, there is no fee required to register for the program, and no additional charges apply when receiving the financial assistance.
