What is the BISP’s history?

Since 2005, a lot of Pakistani families have had their purchasing power destroyed by extreme inflation and soaring food and petrol prices. The BISP was developed to address the issue of the decreased supply. Through direct financial assistance to women in homes, BISP aims to empower women and advance economic growth.

Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa all adopted the Benazir Income Support Scheme. The federally governed regions of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the Capital Territory of Islamabad are also covered by the project.

How much money is being paid out?

Upon verification of their eligibility and criteria, low-income families that fall below the poverty level get the money. The Pakistani government increased the amount of money given to low-income families from 8500 to 9000 Rupees so they may feel more comfortable meeting their basic needs.
